Make Windows Boot Faster

With a new PC, one of the best enjoyments is the fast boot times. Within a few seconds everything is fully loaded and ready to go. But over time, this gets slower and slower. Eventually it can it can get so bad, that you are able to turn on your computer, make a tea and it’s still not ready. Almost everyone experiences this problem and we just get used to it, cursing at Microsoft everytime we turn on the PC. Well luckily, this problem doesn’t have to stick around and you can get back to the good old times with a very fast bootup.

There are various ways to fix this problem, one of the most common is to use a Registry cleaner. However, in this article, we will not be making use of any software, so we will get back to the Registry cleaners later.

The reason your bootup gets slower and slower is due to excessive load placed on the Windows operating system. When you install new software, files, applications, this all places extra load on the OS. Many of these programs like to start themselves at boot time, hence the delays. If you add an extra 10 programs, you can calculate that if each one of these needs to initiate at boot time, you are going to have to wait longer. If you have ever had an Adware or Spyware infection, these will also add excessive delays to the startup process.

Make Windows Boot Faster

Luckily, it is quite simple to speed up the boot time. With just a few quick steps you can have a lightning fast bootup. The first thing to do is remove clutter from your computer. Get rid of any applications, programs and software that are no longer being used. Make sure that you remove these using the Control Panel, with the add/remove software function. If you do not remove programs in this fashion, the Registry entries will remain and the boot time will not be improved.

After you have removed unnecessary programs, step two is to remove clutter by deleting temp files and removing duplicate files. Try to keep your PC as clean as possible. The less junk, the better.

The third step and the most important step is to get rid of programs from the startup process. Do this by typing “msconfig” into the quick search box. Now click on the “Startup” tab. Here you can uncheck items that you do not wish to begin at startup. This can massively improve performance. Just don’t uncheck anything you aren’t sure of.

Now you are on your way to faster bootup.

Getting a new computer at least for me is always a treat.  No more slowness, no more errors.Youre all set except for that fact that all your info is still stuck on your old computer.  Sure you can take a USB device and manually start coping over things but that only gets you so far and with the amount of files I have that will take days to finish.
You can check out this well written guide called data from one computer to another.

If you just need a few files transferred over then it’s no big deal. You can use a USB hard drive.  If you want your custom settings like bookmarks and the like then the above is a great site to check out for a hands on how to guide.  We also found this other easy pc transfer guide on the same site that has even more info.

If you are looking for more of a fresh start then I do recommend you don’t transfer over any personal settings besides your e-mail account or bookmarks.  For me I have several programs and no longer have the CD’s for them so I had to go with specialized file transfer software.

An option you have that is totally free is the Easy transfer wizard. While the software is far from perfect it can and does get the job done in the long run.  Often times you may find it a little frustrating and it may take a few attempts to get the information you want.  We should also mention that before you do any data migration from your old computer to the new one you should always try and install the software first on the new computer.  This will help to make sure the data ports over correct.  Outlook is a big one for many business owners.
You can always manually copy and paste info over to your new computer as well.   If you have very little documents and no other info then this is the best way to go as it will only take you a few minutes to burn a CD or network the computers to view each other and then copy it over.

Free Registry Cleaners

Finding a decent  Registry cleaner  might seem like a simple task, but because of all the choices, it can be quite difficult . There are  literally   hundreds of different Registry cleaners available  for download  , but  they are not all the same  . Many  of these products will not properly clean the Registry and some can be harmful to your PC .

Always use  a product with a trusted  reputation. Here are three of the best, free Registry cleaners  that will help with boosting  your PC  performance.

1) CCleaner

This app   has been around for  a long time   and it’s worth a look. CCleaner is free and extremely  popular too. It does a  nice   job in cleaning your PC. It includes the features you would expect like cleaning out temp files, cookies, index.dat, fixes third party applications and removes invalid/corrupt keys from the Registry. It has support to clean out files for all the major  browsers and you can find both 32bit and 64bit versions of this product .

2) Eusing Software

This is another  high quality   Registry cleaner that is 100% free. Eusing Free Registry Cleaner will scan your Windows Registry for invalid or obsolete information and provide a list of the errors found. After  repairing   the invalid entries, your  computer   will be more stable and run  quicker .

Eusing will fix Dlls, invalid ActiveX, invalid paths, invalid fonts, missing files, obsolete software kwys and much more. It also has multi-language support which is a  great   feature. The interface is not as  useful   as Ccleaner, but a great  product nonetheless.

3) WiseCleaner

WiseCleaner have  paid and free versions  . The free version is still a  worthwhile   product and we think you should  check it out  . If you have tried other Registry cleaners, or just looking for something  different   to test out, then  give this a try  . WiseCleaner will help speed up your PC  by cleaning out junk that accumulates in  the Registry.

The free version does a neat  job of cleaning out the Registry junk. It scans the Registry, flagging orphaned or bad Registry entries, and shows you the name and values for each. It identifies Registry entries that may be  harmful   to delete, and those that are safe to delete, so you can distinguish between the two. It also lets you decide  which entries to delete, and which to keep. For  your safety  , it can also back up your Registry before a scan, so that you can restore it, if the program  causes any  troubles . If you do want to further optimize the Registry, then you will need to go for their paid version.

All of the products above are worth having a look at . They won’t provide the same results as the paid cleaners, so if you really want to  improve   PC performance, check out  the RegCure review, for a great paid solution.
