Spyware Research by Ben Edelman

By admin | June 28, 2007

I recently discovered a very interesting site that provides a lot of great information on spyware issues. The articles are very current and are written in a very accessible style.

Ben Edelman is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Economics at Harvard University and has written at length about spyware programs’ installation methods, privacy effects, and revenue sources. He specializes in designing software to probe spyware, e.g. by posting lists of advertisers supporting spyware, and he has documented the many relationships between spyware companies and advertising networks. He has also served as an expert or consultant in a multiple cases against purveyors of spyware, including the successful Washington Post / New York Times suit against Gator. Ben’s spyware research is posted on his website, www.benedelman.org .
